About This Event

Getting Intimate is an interactive workshop series that explores identity, relationship, self-expression, and intimacy through facilitated activities and open dialogue. Creators Lauren (Ren) Langer and Sarah Silverstein have a combined more than 20 years of group facilitation experience and utilize creative curriculum delivery methods in the exploration of Self and society. Participants can expect to engage in experiential learning opportunities such as directed small group conversations, movement-oriented self-reflection, and both written and verbal exercises. Getting Intimate is a challenge by choice workshop, and participants are encouraged to only share as much as they feel comfortable sharing. Male, female, and non-binary identifying folks welcome. LGBTQ+ inclusive. Come alone or with others. Physical impairments and mobility differences can be accommodated.

Join us on February 15th for a Getting Intimate workshop all about platonic love and intimacy, featuring guest facilitators Alana Lopez and Geneva Shepherd. In a society that sexualizes so many forms of intimacy, what does it mean to have close loving connections with our friends, and how can we deepen those bonds? Where are the boundaries between platonic and romantic? How can we reimagine love to invite more intimacy into our lives? Through movement-based activities, interactive dialogues, and story-telling exercises, this workshop will unpack our social understanding of love and how it can limit or enhance our ability to connect. We hope to create a space of compassionate curiosity wherein participants can look inwards and examine their own relationship with intimacy, as well as learn from the experiences of others.

6:30-8:30 PM | $10
